As the first month of 2005 draws to a close I wanted to build on last years newsletters and focus on those companies that are really effectively using Interactive Marketing to build closer relationships with their customers.
Would you believe some of them actually do more than just sending a monthly newsletter?!!
While there is, of course, a tech focus you will see plenty of simple ideas that you can either use in your own business or should be expecting from companies as a consumer.
Enjoy…
Our first case study of the New Year is the exclusive Met Bar here in Bangkok.
Theirs is an example of simple, yet highly effective, customer relations management (CRM). 3 things make the Met Bar stand out.
Exclusivity. You cannot have a membership card without an invite from the management. While this cannot work for most businesses there is no question that the perception of value increases immediately.
Exceeding expectations. All nightclubs strive to have the best DJ’s and hold the best parties, but how many can secure you a guest list at equally exclusive clubs overseas? The Met Bar also provides members with discounts at a gym and spa, and on a regular basis throws open the door to members and declare “ the drinks are on the house!
”
When was the last time a company exceeded your expectations?
Communication. Most important of all Met Bar regularly communicates with their members in a direct manner using personalised SMS , Email and Direct Mail.
"We see communicating effectively with our members as one of the
most important sides of the business… It is key that we get the right balance."
- Jade Tustin. Met Bar Promotions Manager
Working in a completely different field but achieving similarly high results from improved communication is one of Bangkok’s favourite schools, The Early Learning Centre who have started using Mobile Vision’s SMS service to regularly communicate with and update their parents.
"This has enhanced communication with our parents, and resulted in very positive feedback "
Despite direct marketing in all its forms making it easier to get your message out to the masses, one of the most effective tools is still word of mouth. Whether you are marketing your business or marketing yourself, networking still ranks as one of the most effective ways to get ahead.
Despite the public perception, effective networking isn’t all about shoving your business card in someone’s face and trying to sell them something.
Whether you do your networking online or off, Networking for Success is a club in the Ecademy online community that brings together over 200 people from around the world to discuss the most effective ways of doing it well.
It’s free to register and read what’s going on so drop by anytime.
On a completely different note, an American is auctioning his forehead for advertising logo’s. Although not hi-tech we think this is a great idea. Strategically, my receding hair line allows me to charge double!
If you are in Singapore on the evening of Tuesday the 15th please get in touch. We will be holding a networking event and have already had a great response so drop me a line to find out the details.
Otherwise, have a fantastic February and if you think you should be doing more to communicate with your customers, you probably should!
