Next week I will be another year older... Reluctantly, I will be trading in the football boots for a pipe and slippers; putting away the squash racket and dusting off the golf clubs. But before all that, of course there will be another MASSIVE party!!! (are these newsletters developing a theme?) Furthermore, if I am supposed to age gracefully and learn to play golf, I am making sure all my friends join me.
So if you are receiving this (or retrieving it from the hotmail junk filter) you are invited on 7th August to The 7 Deadly Sins Party, and read on for a special golf present I have got for YOU…

Underground, overground...

After several false starts the answer to Bangkok’s traffic problems has finally arrived. People drove in from miles around to find out what all the fuss was about, bringing Bangkok to a standstill again.

However apart from the lack of parking at any of the metro stops, it is quick, efficient, cheap and opens up whole new areas of Bangkok for those people who never venture off the Sky Train. Although as the monsoon season approaches and the annual floods begin keep a close eye on how the water pumps cope.

Next week starting on the 4th is the Bangkok International ICT Expo 2004. Over 100,000 attendees are expected to view some 200 international booths so should be well worth a look.

Online Networks (again)

Following on from last month’s introduction to online networks there has been a lot of great feedback from people making all sorts of useful and interesting contacts for business, holidays and (ahem) other things. If you haven’t had a look already, check out the blue box underneath this section and join up. It’s free and you may well find it very useful.

Still on technology, dependence on mobile phones reaches new levels with 26% saying they ‘cannot live’ without their mobile phones. A worrying trend? Or a great industry to be in!!
However despite all the added functionality being crammed into phones, voice and text still remain the most common uses although Internet access (WAP) is catching up quickly.
Combining music with mobile is still a hot topic and Motorola and Apple are launching a version of iTunes on some up and coming phones.
Are we back to wanting everything in one device?

Mobile golf?

Can it be?
Can golf be going modern and mobile?
Seemingly so. In a bid to update the games image (and his customers), Kim Inglis, Managing Director of the ever forward thinking GolfThink is offering FREE tips, course updates, breaking news and more, all via SMS, to golf fans. Go to his website to sign up.
Given the overwhelming response from golf fans in the few weeks since he launched this service it seems he has stumbled on a rich vein of information hungry golfers!

Kim is also a Golf Coach to the stars and as a birthday gift from us to YOU, he is giving 2 for the price of 1 lessons at the Thailand Golf School if you mention the birthday party! Even better than that, if you are outside Thailand and fancy a golf holiday, mention how sorry you are to have missed the party, and you will get a discount on all bookings!

The above example is just one of the many case studies that will be showcased in August’s Mastering Mobile Marketing seminar. If you are in Bangkok on 4th August book your place soon.
There will also be an opportunity to see Mobile Vision presenting at the IABC lunch on the 17th on the subject of More Effective Mobile Communication. If you would like to find out more please drop an email to events@mobilevisionasia.com.

Too many MobySite launches to mention this month so next month’s newsletter we will try and cover them all. Stay tuned.

Hope to see you all at The 7 Deadly Sins Party on the 7th,

Callum
