As another month hurtles by, seemingly at the speed of light, the big question on everyone’s lips is how can a mere 700 word newsletter do justice to it all? Alas it cannot, but we must persevere. What cannot make it to your inbox today will be stored for that elusive ‘slow’ month we keep waiting to happen. Anytime now... Still as a good friend and former business partner used to say 'If you're in control - you're not going fast enough!

Game, set and match.

The prime minister of Thailand, Thaksin Shinawatra presided over the opening of the Thai Open a couple of days ago. With Roger Federer, Andy Roddick and Carlos Moya all in attendance it promises to be a great event. Here in Thailand though all eyes will be on local superstar Paradorn Srichaphan

But if tennis is not your sport, maybe Elephant Polo would have been more your style? (regretably the Chicken Polo tournament was cancelled due to a bout of flu affecting the players!)

Technology: Bloggin' publicity!

The Internet has been back in the press recently with several high profile ‘blogging’ incidents.
For those who only ever log onto a computer once a month to read this newsletter, let me explain: blogging or ‘web logging’ is an online diary of sorts that is kept by literally millions of people. Some are updated every couple of weeks, others are updated almost hourly. Some have devoted readership bases, others are lost forever in the tidal wave of Internet data. However, blogging has now started to cause problems, both for bloggers themselves and for others.
As more and more company employee’s start blogging and start to reveal their innermost thoughts about the company they work for, company lawyers are desperately running around trying to work out how to protect the company image. The result? Several high profile firings and a serious teaser about what company policy should be.

At the same time as this is happening, bloggers have started to wield some power. After an ill researched piece on the US president was aired last week, bloggers worked together to disprove the story in just a matter of hours. Expect more heads to roll and the few major corporations which control most of the world’s news to try and discredit bloggers.

MobySites.com

What a month for Mobile Vision and customers! MobySites.com the Bangkok based dynamic business directory for the mobile phone signed up its 100th customer this month!

The directory now contains everything from spas to golf to hotels to language schools and pretty much everything else in between. Although at this stage it is limited to our friends in Bangkok.
Want to know what we're on about? Just type MobySites.com into your phone browser.

Good news too for the MobySites logo which will be flying at several high profile events over the coming months including Raja’s Golf Tournament and several huge Hip Hop concerts.
If you still don't know what we're talking about, Mobile Vision has also been interviewed and featured in Thailand Opportunities magazine this month as well as a live radio interview with our sales manager on IT Variety FM. Finally Mobile Vision has been at several conferences speaking on everything from Retail Loyalty Programs to Direct Mail Campaign Management.

Inspired by many of our clients offering branded SMS content to their customers, Mobile Vision this month launches it's weekly 'Pocket Marketing Tips'. A weekly message straight to the mobile phone of anyone interested in marketing. GUARANTEED to give you some good ideas. Send 'tips' to 06 7777 850 (Thailand only - Sorry)

With October already bursting at the seams with activity and the office looking smaller then ever, perhaps we should follow regular customer WSI’s example and open a second one? Congratulations to them on their fantastic growth this year (their MobySite will be live soon) and the spectacular success of their latest SMS campaign. Perhaps more phone operators would be required for the next one?
